Help Us Pack 100,000 Meals for Starving Children

If you signed up for a group of volunteers, please confirm they all will participate.  Should you find you will not be filling all of the spots you reserved, please let us know (info@wnrotary.org) so we can give these spots to other volunteers.  It’s important that we have enough volunteers so we can make our goal of packing 100,000 meals!

Food for the Hungry in Nicaragua and on the North Shore
We recently met with the New Trier Township and Northfield Township Food Pantries and will be providing each with about 3,600 meals out of the 100,000 we are packing.  So, you’re supporting not only children in one of the poorest countries in the world, you’re also aiding local families hit hard by the recession.  We also ask all volunteers to bring canned or paper goods to donate to the food pantries.

Financial Support Still Needed
We’re about one third of the way to our goal of raising $28,000 to pay for the food, packing materials and equipment and transportation costs (that’s only $0.28 for a meal that provides all of the nutrition needed for a child to be health for a day!)

During your 2 hour shift, each volunteer will be packing food costing about $75.  We offer three ways for each of you to help raise the money for the food you will pack:

Purchase or sell 1 raffle ticket.  Each ticket coast $100 and 25% of the proceeds will be distributed in cash prizes (if we sell all 400 tickets, first prize is $5,000, second prize $3,000 and third prize $2,000).   Raffle tickets may be purchased at the Winnetka Community House, at the Packing event and by contacting Gina at ginad@winnetkacommunityhouse.org..

• Donate $75.  Tax deductible donations should be made to the Winnetka-Northfield Rotary Charitable Foundation.  Checks may be mailed to the us at the Winnetka Community House, brought to the event, or may be made via PayPal by clicking here.
  

Recruit sponsors for your table.  You can download a sponsor solicitation form from our website.  Each packer needs sponsors totaling $75; each table $750.  Checks should be made to the Winnetka Northfield Rotary Charitable Foundation and may be brought with cash to the event.
