Meeting Notes 1/13/22
President Bill called the zoom-only meeting to order at 12:19.
Thought of the Day: Bob Baker shared a prayer that we can lead not with fears and hopes but with words and deeds.
President Bill led us in the Pledge.
We had one visiting Rotarian: Marina Mattingly from the Carol Stream Club.  
Birthdays: Jean Wright will be 96 on the 19th.
Anniversaries: Kate Donegan on the 14th.
Announcements:
  • Wilmette Harbor Club is having a book drive on January 29th from 9-11. See website and bulletin for more information.
  • Marina announced that the Carol Stream Club is selling raffle tickets for a chance to play golf at Medinah #3. There are 39 other raffle prizes too. Tickets are $100 and support their scholarship program. Buy tickets here: https://www.givesignup.org/TicketEvent/ultimategolfraffle
  • It was noted that David Birkenstein provided nice remarks at John Thomas’s memorial service last week.

  • Peter reported that he spoke to Jean Wright a couple of days ago and she is doing well. She appreciates phone calls over cards due to her failing vision.
  • Rich shared that he will be a grandfather in July!!!
  • David B is sending Keith Reed a bill for $1500 for 15 years of rental of his snow blower.
 
 
Dig N Grin: Bob S. shared a funny Jackie Mason video.  
 
Speakers: Community House President Amy Skalinder shared Community House trivia and shared some little-known facts about the Community House. She then answered a number of questions.
President Bill adjourned the meeting at 1:10, when we all recited the Four Way Test.

Wilmette Rotary Club Book Drive
Our sister Club in Wilmette invites us to participate in their book drive on Saturday, January 29 by dropping off donated books at their collection site.

One of the nice features of meeting virtually is that our meetings can be recorded. This of course depends on your meeting host (me) remembering to start the recording (sometimes I'm a bit late in starting it).
