BACK HOME AGAIN!
Rotary met in person at the Community House today.  Donna provided a great box lunch starting at 12:15.
Lee Padgitt provided the Thought of the Day.
President Chuck Norton chaired the meeting commencing at 12:18
Connie Berman had a birthday on June 7th
Visiting Guests:  Asst. District Governor:  Tamiye Meehan; our new Head W-N Librarian,  Monica Dombrowski, and Cam Johnson, the Community House’s new director for Advancement.
Announcements: 
            Robert Mardirossian thanked everyone for their help and contributions to the Friday June 4 Fund Raiser for the Foundation.  We raised $12,000 which was matched by an equal and generous contribution by Fred Schwimmer for a total of $24,000.  Robert was touched by everyone’s generosity.  Special thanks to Marie Kuipers as co-chair and Sylvia as the winner of the Live Auction trip to the Orlando Marriott given by John Thomas.
 
            Queen Marie (with an appropriate crown) did not have a chance to thank all the Board Members in person for their help last year.   She provided medals and knighted Barb Tubekis, David Birkenstein, Peter Skalski, Brooke Peppey, Eric Birkenstein, Rich Lalley, Bill Lesky, John Thomas, Rober Mardirossian, Laura Cunningham and Heidi Silbert.
 
            Queen Marie also granted Paul Harris awards to both Chuck Norton and Fred Schwimmer.
 
John Thomas next introduced the new Executive Director of the Winnetka-Northfield Library, Monica Dombrowski.  Monica brought us up-to-date on all the activities at the Library.
 
Take Aways:
  1. As of Friday, both branches are now open regular hours.
  2. The library is ramping up its programs starting with Story Time for Children
  3. Monica took over in the middle of the Pandemic coming from Sycamore, Illinois
  4. The Northfield Branch has been reorganized and refreshed
  5. During August-October 2021, the 1950’s windows in the Winnetka Library will be replaced.
  6. This summer there are Summer Reading Challenges (with prizes) for both children and adults.In order to be eligible for the prizes, you need to read (or listen to a book on tape/CD) for 20 minutes /day for 40 of the 60 days of summer.
  7. The parking lot at the Winnetka Library will be improved this summer
