President Bill called the meeting to order at 12:20. There were 17 Rotarians, our two speakers, and soon-to-be-member Moha in attendance. Thought of the Day: Robert Mardirossian led us in prayer. President Greg reminded us that our lunch is from Catered By Design. Birthdays: none. Anniversaries: Brooke Peppey – 25 years Peter Skalski – 29 years Louise Holland – 23 years Announcements: - Presidents Bill and Greg acknowledged Chuck Norton’s leadership over the past year and presented him with a clock and a gavel. Chuck stated that despite leading during COVID he enjoyed the past year.
- Chuck asked Bob Baker to join him at the podium and presented Bob with a Paul Harris plus FIVE pin. Bob has been a member of this club for over 33 years.
- Tony Kambich announced that today is his 60th wedding anniversary.
- Terry Dason announced that the Chamber Golf Outing is on September 22. Also, there is a blood drive on August 18th at the Park District.
- The St. Charles Rotary club is doing a river cruise on August 14. See President Bill for details.
- Greg asked those present to give him feedback about today’s lunch.
Happy Bucks: - Robert Mardirossian gave a buck and stated that the Cubs will be in the World Series. That is, the four traded Cub players!
- Rich Lalley shared that twelve years ago, he first met Operation Warm reps at a Rotary event. Since then he has personally been responsible for providing coats to over one million children.
- Wes Baumann gave 5 Happy Bucks.
Dig N Grin: Rich Lalley shared several “clean” jokes, to some applause. Speakers: Our speaker was Detective Ian Levy, Winnetka Police Dept., who was accompanied by Police Chief Marc Hornstein. Their subject was “Financial Crimes and Other Crime Trends”. Det. Levy covered several types of crimes that are prevalent today: identity theft, id cloning, tax id theft, medical id theft, child id theft. This very informative presentation can be viewed on the Zoom recording. President Bill adjourned the meeting at 1:30, when we all recited the Four Way Test. |
