We celebrated our 100th Anniversary/Installation with the Wilmette Club on June 20.
More than 100 members & guests enjoyed cuisine from Froggy's, heard remarks from our District Governor-Elect Thor Davidson and outgoing and incoming co-presidents, and a presentation from both clubs about our respective histories, projects and accomplishments.
Rotarian of the Year awards went to Steve Jambor in the Wilmette Club, and Tony Kambich in the Winnetka-Northfield Club.
A very special Invocation was delivered by Robert Mardirossian:
"Let us pray: Gracious God, we come before you grateful for the bountiful blessings you have bestowed upon us. These blessing have empowered Rotarians to touch thousands, no millions of lives. In a world where children starve, we have an abundance of food and water, in a world where our brothers and sisters are killed in wars, we live in peaceful communities, in a world where medical care is scare, we have access to advanced technology and gifted health care professionals who nurture our physical and mental wellness. Guide us God to use the blessings we receive in a manner that serves all humankind. Let us commit ourselves to Create Hope in the World, as those before us have done and as we aspire to do, not just this year but throughout our lives. Fill our hearts with compassion and our spirits with the conviction to reach out to those in need. Let us never rest until polio is eradicated from the face of this planet. Let us aspire to promote peace and end hunger. Let us strive to live the Rotary motto…Service Above Self. With the Magic of Rotary may we bring these aspirations to fruition. Amen"
